Walking in the Woods

It has gotten very warm – up in the 60’s, which is unusual in early March – so I took a walk in the woods. I spent some time throwing snowballs in the creek – the creek was very full (not overflowing) from snowmelt. The ground is still frozen, so all the water runs away – filling the Great Lakes.

The snow melting makes such interesting patterns – it melts first around weeds, plants and trees; on the sunny side of slopes; under the snow in low places – and runs off down the creek- looking yellow because it’s running over the ice.
